AVITAL RONELL IS NOT A FREAKING LESBIAN

For those of you who have not been reading the news, a Title IX investigation found a NYU female academic named Avital Ronell to be guilty of the sexual harassment of a gay male graduate student.

I won’t rehash the entire sordid scenario here because it has already been beaten to death many times elsewhere. Google it if you want a synopsis or an in-depth analysis.

The one and only point I want to make is this:

AVITAL RONELL IS NOT A FREAKING LESBIAN.

Mainstream media has widely reported variations of “a lesbian was found guilty of sexually harassing a gay male.”

This is not rocket science, folks.

Apparently, the writers of articles falsely claiming that Ronell is a lesbian, and anyone who believes them, have the IQ of aioli.

Allow me to break it down for those too damn stupid to understand the very simplest of concepts:

LESBIANS DO NOT SEXUALLY HARASS/ASSAULT MALES. LESBIANS DO NOT STALK MALES. LESBIANS DO NOT WANT/CHASE/DATE/ETC./ETC./ETC. MALES. LESBIANS DO NOT WRITE NOTES TO MALES THAT SAY RIDICULOUS, IDIOTIC DRIVEL LIKE “Most cherished…Cock~erspaniel” (Ewwww).

Once again for those who need a refresher course in Critical Thinking 101, Avital Ronell is NOT a freaking Lesbian.

She is a “queer” (ugh!) Straightbian, a combo of the Academic Straightbian Susie and the Very, Very, Incredibly Special Snowflake Straightbian.

Duh. Geez. FFS. Grow a brain, people. Learn to freaking use your head for more than a hat rack. Please.

You’re welcome.

  1. Straightbian she may (also) be, but my Gaydar Extension Pack would be letting me down badly if I didn’t immediately clock her as a faghag. Keen to be “oh, so queerly” part of our campy fun and games (‘cos camp is what being gay is all about, right?), such women feel entitled to be as handsy as they choose, and if called to account, will turn to you with wide-eyed innocence and claim “oh, we were just playing.”

At least, that’s the bar-room version. The lecture-hall variant is apparently: “Our communications — which Reitman now claims constituted sexual harassment — were between two adults, a gay man and a queer woman, who share an Israeli heritage, as well as a penchant for florid and campy communications.” I confess to failing to grasp the significance of their “Israeli heritage” in any of this, but we’ll let that pass, shall we? I suppose rubbing your ass on someone’s crotch is “communication” of a sort; I’m no postmodernist philosopher, but I think I’m competent to deconstruct that text.

It’s not her fault she has a name that sounds like a rather dodgy dietary supplement (in fact, “Avital” means “Divine Dew”, which come to think of it also wouldn’t be out of place on the shelves of a health-food store), but if you want a proper laugh, take a look at the Wikipedia page about her. I had to check other references to reassure myself that her very existence wasn’t some elaborate hoax, such a parody of a postmodernist academic is she. If you made her up and put her in a novel, your publisher would reject your manuscript for sheer implausibility.

    • Well said!

I totally agree. I have seen so many (general) straight women, and some types of Straightbians, behave that way around gay men in varying degrees, ranging from hand-holding and staring in their eyes to sitting on their laps and trying to sit between the gay male target and his partner.

Of course, I haven’t witnessed an outright sexual assault, but it doesn’t surprise me that some straight women may go that far, depending on their level of narcissism/pathology.

I haven’t seen where Avital Ronell called herself a lesbian — that is what the media is falsely reporting, likely because she calls herself “queer” and the mainstream media is too damn stupid to know that “queer” is NOT LESBIAN.

For people like her, “queer” is a label to signify how oh-so-very-special they are, while infringing on gay men’s and lesbians’ lives with their straight privilege and complete arrogance fully intact.

As you said so well, she is “keen to be ‘oh, so queerly’ part of our campy fun and games (‘cos camp is what being gay is all about, right?), such women feel entitled to be as handsy as they choose, and if called to account, will turn to you with wide-eyed innocence and claim ‘oh, we were just playing.'”

It’s obnoxious, it’s privileged, and it’s wrong. And now it’s officially sexual harassment too. Keep your handsy hands to yourselves, ladies, or face the consequences of your abusive actions.

  2. I, I’m confused. I just don’t understand how people cannot understand such a simple and basic thing. But then I remember the existence of queer theory, which is so nonsensical that in that framework, only insanity makes any sense at all.
